Subject to the terms below, Diesel Engine Rebuilders LLC (“Diesel Engine Rebuilders”) warrants its rebuilt engines against defects in materials or workmanship under normal use consistent with product instructions for a period of twelve (12) months from the date the original purchaser (the “Purchaser”) purchases the rebuilt engine. This warranty extends only to the original Purchaser and cannot be assigned to any other party. If warranted products contain defects covered under this warranty, Diesel Engine Rebuilders’ obligation shall be limited to, in Diesel Engine Rebuilders’ sole and absolute discretion, repairing or replacing the defective parts. Repaired or replaced parts are warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period.
WARRANTY CLAIMS:
Notice of any defect covered under this warranty must be given within fifteen (15) days of the date the defect is discovered. Notice shall be in writing or by telephone. Notices by telephone shall be made by calling (616) 558-3063 and written notices shall be sent to:

The Purchaser must provide Diesel Engine Rebuilders the following: (1) the date the defect was discovered; (2) evidence of the defect, including, without limitation, photographs and a verbal/written description of the defect; (3) service/repair records and estimates for repairs from legally named active repair dealerships or recognized repaid shop; (4) the original purchase date of the engine; (5) the location of the engine; and (6) the name, address, and phone number of the party making the warranty claim.
Diesel Engine Rebuilders reserves the right to an on-site inspection by an authorized service representative. The Purchaser is required to provide adequate access to the engine for any such repair or inspection. Subject to the terms and conditions contained in this document, am authorized service representative will repair the engine. There will be no charge for parts, labor or the freight costs for parts necessary to repair the engine.
If it becomes necessary for the engine to be shipped to Diesel Engine Rebuilders, the Purchaser shall be responsible for transporting the engine to and from Diesel Engine Rebuilders. Additionally, reasonable travel charges of the repair person may be assessed in cases where the engine is in a remote location.
If Diesel Engine Rebuilders determines that repairs are not feasible due to functional defect, we reserve the right to provide a replacement part or product in lieu of repair. We will replace with a part of value equal to the original purchase. In such event, reasonable costs for removal of the defective product and delivery and installation of the replacement product will be the responsibility of the Purchaser. All replaced parts and products shall become the property of Diesel Engine Rebuilders on the date the part or product is replaced.
This limited warranty is subject to the following terms and conditions:
- Limited warranty applies only to short blocks, long blocks, and full complete running engines/subcomponents. Machine work performed on any heads, blocks, cams, cranks, fuel pumps, oil systems, cooling systems, and/or electrical systems carry no warranty.
- Limited warranty does not apply to any of the engine types listed below, each of which is known to have the problems identified here. No warranty will be provided on these engine types, unless Diesel Engine Rebuilders receives a warranty from the supplier of the parts necessary to rebuild an engine; in which case Diesel Engine Rebuilders will provide the same warranty to the Purchaser as it receives from the parts supplier.
- Cummins engines 870/871/2250/2350 known to crack heads/break piston and rods, cams, rockers and #4 main bearings.
- Cat engines C7/C9/C12/C15/3406 known to crack heads/score cylinders/break rocker shafts.
- Detroit engines Series 60/12 letter/14 letter/known to crack heads/break rods/blocks.
- Mercedes engine known to have head gasket leaks from head to block movement. Some machine repair and head replacement may fix or may not.
- Perkins and percapiller known to score cylinders taking out blocks and cranks, bending rods and cracking heads.
- Limited warranty does not apply to any used engine parts used by Diesel Engine Rebuilders to rebuild any engine, or to any electrical parts installed in any engine unless Diesel Engine Rebuilders receives a warranty from the supplier of the applicable parts; in which case Diesel Engine Rebuilders will provide the same warranty to the Purchaser as it receives from the parts supplier.
- Limited warranty does not apply to any engine that has blue hot spots left on liners from programs installed by other repair shops creating overheat problems and lack of air problems from air to coolers or installing larger turbos.
- Limited warranty, as well as any and all separate parts supplier warranties, will be void and of no further effect in the event of any of the following occurrences:
- Purchaser fails to adhere to all engine break-in and component break-in times and procedures identified or recommended by Diesel Engine Rebuilders.
- Purchaser fails to run the engine at 180 degrees for 75% load for the first four (4) hours of operation, keeping idle at a minimum.
- Purchaser fails to service oil and filter in accordance with the following schedule:
- Large engines (300 or more HP): 15,000 miles/400 hours
- Small engines (Less than 300 HP): 6,000 miles/200 hours
- Industrial engines: 200 hours
- Purchaser fails to service fuel systems filters in accordance with the following schedule:
- Large engines (300 or more HP): 15,000 miles/400 hours
- Small engines (Less than 300 HP): 6,000 miles/200 hours
- Industrial engines: 200 hours
- Purchaser fails to service engine cooling system in accordance with the following schedule to maintain a 50% mix ethylene glycol or 50/50%:
- Large engines (300 or more HP): 15,000 miles/400 hours
- Small engines (Less than 300 HP): 6,000 miles/200 hours
- Industrial engines: 200 hours
- Purchaser fails to service oil and filter in accordance with the following schedule:
- Large engines (300 or more HP): 15,000 miles/400 hours
- Small engines (Less than 300 HP): 6,000 miles/200 hours
- Industrial engines: 200 hours
- Purchaser fails to have an engine tune-up or valve and injector adjustments in accordance with the following schedule:
- First adjustment, large or small engines: 25,000 miles/500 hours
- Second adjustment, large or small engines: 75,000 miles/1,200 hours
- Thereafter: Valve and injector adjustments maintained to Manufacturer Specifications
- If ECM or controllers have been tampered with in any way and/or turned up making the engine put out more power than designed by Manufacturer Specifications.
- If any overheat tabs installed by Diesel Engine Rebuilders are removed, melted, or tampered with in any way.
- If any part of the engine has been the subject of misuse, misapplication, improper maintenance or repair, damage caused by the fault or negligence of anyone other than an authorized representative of Diesel Engine Rebuilders, or damage caused by accidents.
EXCEPT FOR THE EXPRESS LIMITED WARRANTY SET FORTH ABOVE, DIESEL ENGINE REBUILDERS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS AND EXCLUDES ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE).
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
IN NO EVENT SHALL DIESEL ENGINE REBUILDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS), REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION, WHETHER IN TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, CONTRACT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY RELATED TO THE DEFECT, REPAIR, REPLACEMENT OR SHIPMENT OF ANY ENGINE, EVEN IF DIESEL ENGINE REBUILDERS KNOWS OF, OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN OF, THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. THE FOREGOING LIMITATIONS, EXCLUSIONS AND DISCLAIMERS SHALL APPLY TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
GOVERNING LAW:
This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without reference to its conflict of laws principles.
